Commitment to ICT strengthened


The Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) with its state universities and colleges partners renewed their bond in integrating ICT in basic education in the Philippines.

The First iSchools Congress was held April 9-11, 2008 at the Mimosa, Pampanga, Philippines. CICT Chairman Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III and Commissioner Angelo Timoteo Diaz de Rivera welcomed 503 guests and delegates from State/Universities/Colleges in the country (SUCs) of different regions that actively participated in the congress.

Resource persons who are well-known in their field gave a series of seminars and workshops for the participants and put emphasis incorporating ICT in all subject areas. The iSchools along with
eSkwela and Omega Tender also conducted an exhibit as a parallel activity.

The Congress aims to promote effective and appropriate use of ICT in teaching and learning and encourage local leaders for their support and cooperation.

The ischools project is one of the projects of the government that focuses in integrating ICT (Information & Communications Technology) in classroom learning.
